DIY: A Cutout Dress with Heart

Cutout details in tops and dresses are a popular trend as the weather gets warmer. Peek-a-boo accents are a great way to show a little skin and add some sexiness to just about any outfit. An easy peasy way to “do it yourself”, without any sewing involved, is to take a simple tank or maxi dress and make a heart-shaped cutout on the back of the dress. Show a little leg, as well, by cutting a slit down the front of the dress.

You’ll need:
A basic black maxi/midi dress in a jersey fabric (I bought my H&M dress from a consignment shop for $10)
Scissors and Ruler
Tailor’s Chalk
A paper heart cutout ( I made mine by using plain white 8×10 printing paper)
Shape-Flex Interfacing (This material provides crisp support and is simply ironed onto to the area you will be cutting. It can be found at any fabric store.)
